Wallet ownership

What it is

Proves that someone controlled a wallet's key on a given date, by signing a message with it.

Who it's for

Treasuries, trading firms, payees and anyone who needs to show a wallet is theirs.

Steps
  1. Ask for a wallet challenge through the API, or use the request form at proofrail.me/#claim (choose Wallet / transaction).
  2. Sign the exact message you are given in your wallet. No transaction is sent and no fee is paid.
  3. Send the signature back.
  4. Proof Rail checks it and issues the record, showing the wallet and the date.
Example
  • The wallet 0x6f54035765c2894d0ca5ee53bd0722e51f1d339e is checked by wallet signature on RP-XH7NO2BN7UFR.
What you'll see
Screenshot to come
A record showing the wallet address, "Wallet signature checked" and the date.
Good to know
  • It works for Ethereum-style wallets (one signature covers every such chain), Bitcoin and Solana.
  • It proves control of the key on that date. It does not prove the funds, past transactions or who the person is.
