Company and website

What it is

Proves a company's legal identity and status, and that a website really belongs to it.

Who it's for

Merchants, marketplaces, property operators and platforms that want customers to check who they are.

Steps
  1. Ask for a record with the request form at proofrail.me/#claim (choose Company), or create it through the API.
  2. For the company, give its LEI. Proof Rail checks it against the global LEI register.
  3. For the website, add the DNS TXT record you are given at _rail-proof-challenge.yourdomain.com.
  4. Proof Rail runs the checks and issues the record.
  5. Share the record link, or add the live badge to your site.
In plain words
LEI
Legal Entity Identifier: a 20-character code that identifies a company in the global LEI register.
Example
  • proofrail.me is domain-checked (DNS TXT control check) on RP-XH7NO2BN7UFR.
What you'll see
Screenshot to come
A record showing the company or website, the check, and when it was done.
Good to know
  • Anyone can re-check a domain record by looking up the same DNS TXT entry.
  • Keep the DNS entry published for as long as the record should stay verifiable.
